Am I an Addict?
Do I use drugs to cope or feel “normal”?
If you find yourself relying on drugs to manage stress, emotions, or everyday life, it may be a sign that you’re using them as a coping tool rather than just for occasional use.
Have drugs hurt my work, school, or relationships?
When drug use starts affecting responsibilities, performance, or the trust and closeness you have with others, it’s often a red flag.
Have I lied, stolen, or broken the law to get drugs?
Needing drugs so badly that it leads to dishonesty or illegal activity can indicate that drug use has taken priority over your values and boundaries.
Have I tried to stop but couldn’t?
Struggling to quit even when you want to shows that the drugs may have created a physical or psychological dependence.
Do I keep using even when I know it’s causing problems?
Continuing to use despite negative consequences is one of the strongest indicators that drug use may have become an addiction.
Answering “yes” to any of these questions doesn’t automatically mean you’re an addict, but it does suggest it may be time to talk to someone who can help—like a counselor, doctor, or recovery program.
Ready to take the first step toward a new life?
At Foundations to Freedom, we’re here to help you find hope, healing, and a fresh start. Whether you’re seeking recovery support, resources, or a safe place to rebuild, your journey begins here.
Start your journey today—because freedom and a brighter future are waiting for you.
