DeLand, FL – Foundations to Freedom, a leading recovery-focused organization, is expanding its life-saving initiative by increasing the number of Narcan vending machines throughout Volusia County. With the recent award of additional Opioid Abatement Funding, six new vending machines will be placed in highly saturated overdose areas, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to harm reduction and community support.

Currently, one Narcan vending machine is located at 339 E New York Avenue, where Foundations to Freedom’s administrative offices are based. A second machine will be placed at The Grocery Box, a high-risk overdose location on the east side of the county, in the coming weeks. This expansion will significantly increase access to Narcan, an essential overdose-reversal medication, for individuals and families impacted by the opioid crisis.

Katherine Russell, Founder and CEO of Foundations to Freedom, emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating: “This funding allows us to reach even more individuals in crisis, providing life-saving intervention where it’s needed most. Every Narcan kit dispensed represents a potential life saved, and we are committed to ensuring that no one in our community is left without access to this critical resource.”

The additional six vending machines will be placed in areas identified as overdose hotspots, further supporting the county’s harm reduction efforts. This expansion is part of a broader mission to provide accessible, life-saving resources to those at risk, as well as education and support to help individuals and families navigate the path to recovery.
